Liquefied petroleum gas in tanks for fruit and vegetable processing companies

The ongoing rise in electricity prices is leading to a steady increase in production costs. As a result, a major problem has emerged that all fruit and vegetable processing companies have faced in recent years. Meanwhile, the disposable income of the average Polish resident has not changed significantly when current inflation is taken into account. As a result, we are seeing a decline in demand for fruits and vegetables, including processed forms, despite the growing popularity of healthy eating trends. They are, in a sense, becoming a luxury item that not everyone can afford, and the vitamins they contain are being replaced by cheaper supplements, if at all.

However, there is an alternative to the current energy system that could prove to be a lifesaver for the aforementioned industry in the coming years. Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), which is the subject of this discussion, is the most versatile method of storing energy for industrial processing. LPG is either propane, butane, or a mixture of both gases. It is stored in liquid form under high pressure in specially designed tanks or cylinders. The gas can be used to heat water, as vast quantities of water at the right temperature are essential for the production of fruit and vegetable preserves. It also serves successfully as a power source for production machinery and as a fuel for forklifts, as it does not produce toxic exhaust fumes during combustion. For production stages such as sterilization and pasteurization, process steam is essential, which can also be generated using equipment powered by technical propane. It is also worth noting that LPG can be used to heat production halls, which is essential for ensuring a properly functioning work environment, as well as for heating water or heating administrative and staff facilities, where it can also be used in the kitchen. Its great advantage lies precisely in the versatility of this fuel as an energy carrier.  

It’s also worth noting that LPG technology is significantly cheaper both during installation (compared, for example, to the cost of connecting to natural gas) and in terms of operating costs than solutions based on solid fuels or electricity. The use of liquefied petroleum gas is also more environmentally friendly, especially in terms of particulate matter, soot, and CO2 emissions. As a result, it allows for compliance with the increasingly stringent emission standards imposed on us today.
